ATI Xpert 128 in Slackware 8

I was wondering how to use a specific driver in xf86config in order to get my video card to work? I want to use "r128" driver for my Xpert 128 ATI video card under Slackware 8. Right now it only works under VGA 8 bit with like 640x480. The drivers for ATI all use the same old ATI driver and the r128 one isn't listed.. how would i get that in there and use it? oh btw, its using xf86 4.1.0

In XFree86 4.1 you need to edit the XF86Config file. on slack it will be in /etc/X11/. open it up in your favourite text editor and change the following line

(here is my config for my geforce 2. yours will obviously be different.)

Section "Device"

    Identifier "GEFORCE 2 PRO"

    Driver "nvidia"

    #VideoRam 65536

    # Insert Clocks lines here if appropriate

change the Driver section to the driver you want to use and things should ne just peachy!

P.S. in the older versions you needed to alter a symbolic link. if the above doesn;t work then you might need to search for this link. I don't think it still exists but its worth a look if the above fails.
