ATI readon9800 problems

Hello i'm running kernel 2.4.24 with slackware 9.1
i'm trying to install these
and i think i'm doing the set rights
installpkg filename.tgz
cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod
cd ..

the thing is. when i run fglrxinfo it doesn't say ati, and fxgears only shows like 200fps

any help would be sweet dudes

These drivers are a pain in the arse - I spent ages getting the 3D tuned up only to find that it made my system unstable, but YMMV.

The answer is probably somewhere in the log - /var/log/XFree86.0.log - take a look for any lines saying 'failed' or 'error'. It is also possible that your 3D is working but not being picked up by glxinfo - could you post the output of typing:

ldd `which glxinfo`

when I type which fgrlx i get this

which: no fgrlx in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/opt/www/htdig/bin:/usr/lib/java/bin:/usr/lib/java/jre/bin:/opt/kde/bin:/usr/lib/qt-3.2.1/bin:/usr/share/texmf/bin)
