ATi Radeon HD 3850 (driver v8.12) on Slackware 12.2 v ....it's still jerky!

Greetings.

Someone please explain me what to look at. I am linux user only for few days now and this one bugs me a bit.

New Slackware 12.2, installed driver for ATi Radeon HD 3850, which is (as I've been told is the best version atm) version 8.12. I got ATi catalyst control center reconfigured from top to bottom few times, but I cannot see any difference from before installing the driver. I can go faster than this! Example: fullscreen Youtube video freezes for about 2 seconds to animate volume-slide. (it's not only Flash, it's all over)
Should I go and buy nVidia? lol

I would know few other things to check if this was Windows, but it's not.

Is this Slackware q?
Please don't leave me here with hyperlinks to read handbooks, okay ;)
