Asunder seems to have a problem ripping very long tracks

I'm trying to rip a classical music CD. It's Rachmaninoff, and the last track is Rhapsody On A Theme of Paganini. It's very long, at 23:44, and Asunder seems to have a problem ripping it: it must have been half an hour and it's not done yet, stuck at 88%. It can't be the optical drive, because I just installed a new one a week or two ago. I think I've had this problem with long tracks before. Any suggestions? Just use a different ripping program?

I often use the console program, cdparanoia. It's always worked well for me and retries many times if the CD is scratched. It rips the CD to wav files, and I use ffmpeg to convert them to mp3 or whatever. It is invoked with:
Code:
$ cdparanoia -w -B
-w outputs wav's
-B separates the output into separate tracks

the description of your problem sounds very much like a scratched or dirty cd.
they can take a soft cloth and a little water, but be sure to dry it off completely.
or search the web on how to clean cd's. iirc, toothpaste is an option.
