are you interested in video chat in linux

Video chat is something that you can't do on mainstream networks with Linux. Is it something that bothers you ?

You can do it on the msn network IIRC.

gaim-vv is under development and is available now.

There's also something available, also under development, for aMSN if my memory doesn't desert me.

There are white-board programs that can do the same thing and more. They follow the T.126 protocol, so you could use them on linux and communicate with a group using windows Netmeeting3 for example. Irix's SGIforum, and the Suns X windows program SunForum and maybe others follow this protocol.

For a voice/video over IP program, try googling for 'GnomeMeeting'. From their website:
Quote:

GnomeMeeting is an H.323 compatible videoconferencing and VOIP/IP-Telephony application that allows you to make audio and video calls to remote users with H.323 hardware or software (such as Microsoft Netmeeting)

I am talking about video chat with friends, not converting them to netmeeting, sunforum or other......

gaim-vv is closest.

Well, I think before we get our hopes up on great software for the conference, we
need better support for miscellaneous cams.

Damn companies with proprietary protocols >.<
