appache sever authentication


i am najeeb. i am using RH9 . i can configure appache server.
but i need to implement authentication in webserver.
how i can enable authentication using username and password at client side

The only thing that I know of that apache has is htaccess to use for authentication.

For Apache 2.0

For Apache 1.3
