Apache httpd
I am trying to configure apache and, of course, it doesn't work (everything i touch turn to s...)
Where is the problem:
is the base configuration i used: danwww.lreb.local:80
i use: all available addresses on port 80
for the rest, i lease as default.
Iam using the gui(Apache configuration) in gnome on RH8 i also trying in kde in case...
After the config i do apply and i return in terminal mode to lunch the deamon:
service httpd restart and i have a fail as to go down and as it try to put it up, it gives me a 401 ErrorDocument directive.
i also tryed a server name of just danwww and danwww.lreb.local without the port but it doesn't work ether.
If someone can guide me to a howto or anything, i would like the find out what i am doing wrong
thanks
Dan

apache has error logs in /var/log/where your config file says they are
probably named error_log.
check them for details
you should also see some error on the screen when it fails to start.
I am guessing that this error document is your generic page cannot be displayed.
this is what you should see when trying to connect to a server that's not running.

Easier doesn't mean any better though, as for webmin nice from a real newbies perspective but when it comes to more advanced configurations webmin is simply not the way to choose!

I beg to differ! Webmin has come a long way!
You can now configure on the fly Open SSL Virtual Servers also send info to other webfarmed servers on your back end. Now if your an admin you know how much of a headace that can be! You can also tweak just about anything that comes with the Apache 2.0 distro! Yes there are a couple of things that are a little tricky to do with webmin but it sure does pack a lot of configuration features into the apcache module now! Yes it is geared toward the newbie per say but it does have a mirid amount of configuration detail to it now! Go and download the latest realease and see what I am taking about! It's worth the look and download!
There is just to much about it to post here. I would like to know what you are talking about advanced cofiguration that webmin may or may not be able to handle?
Please let me know?

Oh and by the way!
Webmin supports clustering now! Now if that's not advanced configuration I don't know what is?
