anything similar to WMI

Hi All,

I hope you guys know about WMI. (Windows Management Instrumentation) Its a protocol that passes the system information to any management software interface. And this service is a Microsoft product.

Now, my question is, do we have something similar to this in linux versions??

That's correct..But can you make out the difference between them? i do have an application which I gets system info thru WMI..But not from SNMP. This is in case of Windows machine.

But for a Linux machine, I dont have WMI and so I couldn't anyhting similar to that..How do you configure SNMP traps in Linux systems.I need it to be public..Any idea??
