Anyone Got (and keep) RaidCall Working?

Greetz
Raidcall is a free conferencing VOIP service and app made for Windows. It is alos used like it's name implies as a coordination device in game raids, and some require it. It used to work great on Slackware in Wine but forced upgrades keep breaking it. The main issue for me is inability to even login anymore (though I know from dual boot the account is fine). There was a user built workaround for Mac but apparently that only partially works.

So my question is, has anyone been able to either get it to work, even in a VM, or better, been able to somehow bypass upgrades so an old and working version can be used? or at least tried to see what doesn't work?

So my question is
How do you make it work?
The first thing I'd try is to uninstall software and download the latest version, check the dependencies, locate the corresponding libraries in the current install and make sure you have the correct directories identified in the builds ./config options. Then I'd build it. If that didn't work it would at least throw errors which could then be resolved.
You could run an older version of Slackware in a VM (I'd pick KVM/QEMU) however you'll likely be unhappy with the result if you're trying to play video games on top of a VM emulation stack.

How is Slackware forcing you to upgrade?

My apologies. Apparently I was unclear. Slackware works flawlessly through many upgrades. It is RaidCall, a windows-only app, that Mac and Linux tend to run in Wine that fails when RaidCall upgrades and it is forced. Before you even get to the login screen one is "greeted" by the "Update Now" screen and without alteration, will not let you pass it.

Does it specify what it wants you to update?
Normally, that happens because you have an older version of the raidcall software. Have you tried updating that?

Well of course and that is exactly the problem. Older versions work, or at least "worked", in Wine, both for Mac and Linux but every update breaks it, much like the ridiculous updates to "Word" and other proprietary (but simple) rich format document applications. I know why Word is needlessly "updated" but I have no idea why RaidCall chooses such a path since it is Free (as in beer), both the app and the service. The only gain I can even imagine would be from someone who wishes to keep an MS stranglehold on gaming on every possible front and even that makes no sense since it is a direct competitor to MS owned Skype.

Some Mac user tried to keep up by creating workarounds that made it work with just a few minor bugs, but apparently the changes have come so fast and so deep he can't keep up.

It looks like I may have to search the eula to see if it is legal to turn off updating more or less permanently.
