Anyone got an RCA Lyra mp3 player working?
Hi,
This is really annoying me, and I wonder if anyone has done it.
I have an RCA Lyra RD1070 mp3 player, which works fine using Musicmatch under M$. But, musicmatch uses a plugin to convert every mp3 into a .mpy file, which is then stored on the player.
Has anyone fixed this? Anyone have any idea how to fix it?
Thanks

I thought that you might want to take a look at this thread on another RCA Lyra player, it might be close enough to help you get you started in the right direction.

thanks but i have already read that post and posted a question to the guy who claimed that he got the thing working.
my problem is that i can omunt the player and remove files from it just fine.
the problem is adding music.apparently lyra takes wma and mpy.I created a wma file from a mp3 file using lame and stuck that into the player.
that file does not play so apparently the only way to put music in there is to use musicmathc jukebox which is available only for windows.I can try running it inder wine but i doubt if all the aspects(specially the plugin for the player) will work under wine.
so thanks for the reply but u(or neone else)got ne other suggestions?

I never knew .wma worked with that MP3 player. It doesn't work on mine either. I also tried musicmatch with WINE, which doesn't work. As a last resort, I emailed RCA to see if I get a reply from them. Once I get one I will post it.
Cheers
Jamie

Here we go, the most unhelpful email yet:
Dear Customer:
Thank you for visiting RCA.com.
We provide information regarding sales and service for RCA products on the
RCA.com website. We have no information available on the topic discussed in
your email.
Please visit RCA.com again for information about RCA products and services.

This response is being provided by Thomson Inc., the
manufacturer of RCA consumer electronics products.
So they've basically told me to, well, go back to the website and try and find some non-existent information. I've emailed them again to see what happens.

RCA Lyra
Music Match may not be available to linux but just because it is the most popular resource for RCA does not mean that it is the only one. Most new linux systems now come with Real Player which will allow you to transfer your audio files into a supported file format onto any removable device. RCA is aware of this it is just that there techs..um...how would say the right word..... oh yeah.... THEY SUCK! Well I hope it works. If not dont blame me this just what I have done and it works fine on my behalf so if it dont work for you... try, try, try and keep on trying.
