Any way to get mobile connection with Linux OS Asus eee pc 901?
Is there any service I can get that will run on my Linux OS. Connecting to Wifi hot spots is not doing it for me.
I am not a tech, and I decided to use Linux because it seems to run well. I'd appreciate any help that all of you other more experienced users could provide! :newbie: |
You mean like connecting over 3G? If you have a cell phone that supports 3G and tethering, then yes you could do that. But depending on your carrier it could be very expensive.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I guess I do mean 3g and I have verizon. How expensive is it and is it a difficult process?

With Verizon you need to pay a tethering charge of $60 per month; unless you have a Windows Mobile or Blackberry device, in which case the tether charge is $15 and $30 respectively. You would also need to have unlimited data on that particular phone, which is another $15.
So you would be paying $75 per month on top of whatever your current phone bill is, assuming you have a regular phone. It would be cheapest with a WM smartphone, but even $30 above the voice plan cost seems pretty high unless you are going to use it a lot. |
Thanks, this is helpful and yes, that is expensive. I guess I'm looking for other alternatives to wifi hotspots, whicn hasn't worked out so well for me!
