ANSI not displaying properly in BitchX/term

Hey Everyone,

I like to use BitchX to access irc and as you know the screens are generally ANSI colored like BBS' in the old days... :) Well, my question to you is:
How do I get my term to display these characters properly? I tried typing term=vt100 and term=ANSI
Neither one seemed to help. I am using BASH.
I am accessing my terminal via KDE using eterm so it's inside a window.

Thanks Everyone,

Joel

when you first start your X session, what is the value of $TERM (echo $TERM)?
Try it again from an Eterm and see what it is there.

I am assume this would in my .bashrc file? If so I do not have anything in there. What should be in there or am I looking at the wrong file?

Thanks again,

Joel
