Well I suppose if you really start a project like it, you'll get the community full support, and of course, of people that are currently working on cracking NTFS.

NTFS understanding needs a lot of work. If kernel developers have not finished it yet, it means it's really hard. I think that it will be written one day. By a person who needs to write/resize NTFS and has no other choice than to write a prog. That's how it works.
