AMD64 and Linux distros

Anybody out there running the AMD64 (Athlon) and a distro like SUSE 9.0 for AMD64?

What motherboard are you running, and do you have any advice/guidance/avoidance warnings against certain motherboard/chipsets with regards to obtaining an 'out of the box' install? Particularly looking for the easiest install option, as opposed to downloading and re-building the kernel with an endless amount of patches.....

Cheers
