Amazing thing !I could not remove files even i am root and rm -fr filename.

first ,these files is generated by sys after i moved all the files /home/* (in /dev/hda2) to another /home/(in /dev/hda6) and then deleted /home(in /dev/hda2).
second,it says i have no permission to del them or change their attib.
third, their attib is readable and writealbe by root.

So how should i do then.
Any help is appreciated.

if that isn't working even as root, have you tried changing the ownership of the files to root... you can do this with the chown command..

what format is hda6 and hda2 on? it sounds like it might be a fat16 or 32 partition if it's having problems with permissions.

The immutable bit is probably set.

Try: chattr -i filename
