Am I the only one frustrated w/ Ubuntu
 

I feel very frustrated w/ ubuntu!
Plus the fact that no one can help me simple problems here & on ubuntu.
I find it very frustrating when your asking a serious problem & they ignore you. And if they help. They try to treat you like your an MIT grad when in reality 95% softwares & the work arounds in ubuntu don't really make sense to me!
They don't give it to me step by step!
Plus incredible how most of the software in ubuntu is absolutely buggy! Imagine Firefox crashes more times in Ubuntu than in my xp!
That's not all! Hardware support is amazingly poor! I mean I need some of the hardware working. Plus its really frustrating to go back in XP just to use one application like my logitech cam or my epson cx100! Obviously its not their fault! But in reality its their issue so realisticly speaking its their problem becoz if certain hardwares don't work I just find it frustrating to use it. Its difficult to restart & in & out of ubuntu!
Some say that pretty soon hardware manufactures will support ubuntu! My answer is! They will? In your ass! Some them are close ties w/ the bigger more "Friendly" user os like Mac & Windows! They know that you don't have choice but whine your ass off! Plus if the driver becomes an open software they are afraid that trade secrets will be revealed. I will take maybe another millennia. Especially if Linux or Ubuntu don't consider this problem!

In my experience, Ubuntu is the most user-friendly Linux distribution I have used. Additionally, its stability is amazing to me... I have one computer that has been running continuously for 157 days.

R U a noob like me? Sorry I just updated my rant! Try making your peripherals work or use gparted to do a simple partition or find a dl manager that saves passwords.
If you just surf in ubuntu or type simple docs w/ compling it w/ your co workers office docs. You won't have probs!
True is stable! But in the long run its not sustainable. Make or doing things are super simple XP takes about an entire village in Ubuntu! Support is weak & make ignore you when your serious w/ your problem!

I've been using Ubuntu for about 3 years, and every peripheral I have plugged in has worked just fine.

What problems have you run into? Can you be specific about your issues?

Most of the word count in your posts has been ranting. There have been several people trying to help you, but sometimes you just come back with more rants.
I recommend that you back off on the rhetoric and focus on specific questions. You will get more help with that approach.

I would also advise you to stick to one topic at a time. Your question about re-sizing partitions got totally buried in other stuff. I might catch some frowns for this, but if you'll start a new thread on the re-sizing issue ONLY--with no ranting--I'll pick up the count and try to help.

Logitech cams don't work!
Cx3100 printer won't enable the scanner! Haven't tried working the printer itself!
Could not detect my sd card reader/writter!
Unable to partition it, even while using gparted livecd!
Firefox crashed frequently! Never happens in XP!
No download managers that can match flashget or IDM!
Everything has to be done commandline!
Support requires at least 24hrs before you get any!
Lacking of good feature filled progs that can really replace some of the excellent progs in windows!
95% of software are half baked, badly design & poorly made!

These are the tip of the iceberg I must say!
Can you handle it? Mostly likely like all Ubuntu problems & troubleshooter! They can't! Pls don't solve problem like your talking to MIT grad! Please I can't & will try understand you! you are dealing w/ a noob here!

This is the general section! Isn't this where I can rant & project the actual issue of an average Ubuntu or Linux User! Why don't you submit some of my rant to those who make this! Maybe & hopefully reality will slap them in the face!

First off, are you running the most recent Ubuntu (7.04)? If not, I would try upgrading.

Download managers: what's wrong with the firefox built-in manager?
Is your SD card reader USB, internal, etc.?
What occurred when you tried to partition the system?

I did some Google searches and have located an operating system which I think will be more in line with your needs and temperament. Good luck to you.

- a "w/" is a very stupid mark; for me it stands for "whyamIsofreakingidiotIcannotwriteproperly"
- it's not Ubuntu's, or the community's, or the Ubuntu developers' problem if Firefox is "buggy"; it's Mozilla code, and their job
- if you feel frustrated, don't cry out loud like a kid, you're free to choose your operating system that works without a hitch, or write your own if you feel like it
- nobody is interested in your crying, but if you have constructive thoughts, feel free to share them in the appropriate places (like Ubuntu mailing lists)
- the software on Ubuntu is not difficult, not easy, it's just up to you how much time you're ready to spend on learning it; you learned to use Windows once, you didn't know it thoroughly from the first second - that's how it goes with any operating system
- hardware support is up to manufacturers, and has nothing to do with Ubuntu in the sense that it's impossible for the non-paid (or even paid) developers of Ubuntu to write drivers for every piece of hardware out there; that's the job of the manufacturer, some are just kind to write it for them (and for you)
- actually Ubuntu, like any other Linux or any other OS, supports pretty much any hardware out there; it's just that somebody needs to write some piece of code that tells the operating system how to use the hardware - you do it, if you're not satisfied
- how many times did you ask the community to be more newbie-friendly? how many times did you at least try to understand things, or search for answers yourself? the community is not paid to answer your questions, so it'll only do so if it pleases, that's a fact - if you actually buy their tech support (which I don't think you ever tried, did you?), then they'll surely spend as much time as you want solving your problems for you
- XP is completely proprietary, money-made, Ubuntu not; if you want help, you get it, and if you want help for sure, you may have to think of bying it (GPL doesn't say it's free of charge)
- most of the software in Ubuntu is not made by Ubuntu developers, so you can't blame them; if you've got a problem with some piece of software, you first have to consult the creator of that software and see if it's a bug in the program or not; you're now thinking Ubuntu owns everything in their operating system, but the fact is, they don't
- I'll repeat that crying out loud here about these things makes no sense, just you look like a fool; if you want things solved, ask for help and work it out yourself too, if you want help, ask for it (kindly, or pay for it), and if you just want somebody to yell at, buy a doctor for your little head

It's sad when people don't grasp the essential facts of life. If they ever read at least parts of the documentation available to them, or really listened to others, we wouldn't need to go trough this over and over again..

Becoz they don't save passwords! Don't do multiple downloads & It is slow as hell! Try using flashget in XP! There's none in ubuntu!

Well my I don't really know! Its just that if you let it sit for 30 min you won't see anything happening! Yes I'm comparing it to my experience w/ partition magic! Becoz it does it way better! WAY BETTER! It may not be for "Alpwha FREAKS" but it does job well!

Firefox can be downloading multiple files simultaneously. I'm not sure what passwords need to be saved, you should have logged into any sites with your browser.

External card readers should show up as a mounted partition immediately. What occurs when you plug it in? Do you see a new icon on the desktop?
