I'm trying to use Skype but it seems that my microphone is not working properly. I'm testing it by calling my regular phone and listening to myself talk. At the speaker of the regular phone, my voice is reproduced at a normal volume, but it comes out being distorted, sounding slightly metallic but mostly it picks up a kind of buzzing. I've been playing around a lot with alsamixer and haven't been able to fix it, although bringing down the <Digital> volume bar did diminish it a bit. I'm now a bit stuck since blindly fiddling with alsamixer is about the extent of my audio troubleshooting skills. In the hope that someone could see something obvious, or inform me of something that I haven't checked, here is what my alsamixer is set as:
