all uppercase at login screen after up-arrow.
Hi, Penguins.
With my Debian Penguin, I use command line log-in. (personal preference)
Then, tcsh and bash spoiled me to use up-arrow key to follow history.
Problem is that when I want to login again after logout, I often use up-arrow key instead of typing in login name. EVERYTHING GETS UPPSRCASE, SO THAT I HAVE TO REBOOT.
Is there any way to restore this situation?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Do you actually have to reboot?
I've had the same thing happen a while ago. Logging out and in again should do the trick (for me it did), no reboot was necessary.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, but this happens when I am NOT logged in. Not easy to logout unless logged in.

Ho hum, maybe a stupid piece of advice, but tried hammering the "down" key? All fun aside, that's ermmm.... strange. How on earth can that happen? My advice is, get an alternate getty program, like agetty or getty-ps. Maybe it'll solve the issue.

No, "arrow down", "arrow left" "arrow right" do not do good job. I have not tried all combinations yet. (ctl esc...)
Now I found, after 5 times failure, things go normal again.

 I understood that.
Maybe I should have added: Logging in is no problem, even when capitalized (guess that under the hood things appear normal). Then log out and log in again.
But waiting also helps (as you already noticed), but that takes some time.
