After restarting program keeps starting up with system
Hello,
One time my Linux freezed and I used ALT+F1 (or is it ALT+CTRL+F1..) to go to console and type reboot. It restarted the computer and everything works fine except that every time I start Linux, it starts shell... (shell was active when I did the reboot)
This is not so important, but it's anoying. I really hated when that happened in Windows.
I'm sorry, but I don't know what clue I should give you.
I'm using Mandrake 10.0, with KDE (I think 3.2, the one that goes with Mandrake 10.0). I don't have Gnome installed so I can't test if this happens with Gnome too...
Thank you
Relja Arandjelovic

it looks like you arnt booting up in the right run level when you get to your prompt next time, type: init 5.
also check the file:/etc/inittab
near the top you will have a line that looks like this:
init:2:initdefault:
what is the number you have there?

i think he means xterm or konsole or somthing starts with kde ?
in that case... just close the porgram, and logout.
when you logout, kde remembers what programs you were running, and quto loads them next time you log in. if you keep shuting down without logging out, kde still remembers what was running the last time you did a propper logout

Yes, sorry for my bad explanation, konsole starts with KDE.
And sorry for such a stupid question... The logout/login thing did the "trick".
I have those keyboards with additional buttons and I have a button for shut down which I configured to do the "halt" command. So I never did the logout, I taught that halt does it automaticaly.
Thank you
