I made this questions in ubuntu-es.org, hispanic ubuntu community, but this community is bigger and I hope you could help every new and future user of linux.
The first question everyone asks when gets interested on using linux is "what advantages does it have?"
So, it's important to make all potential users know what they win using Linux.
Post all the things you can do better in linux, in all the aspects of the system, hardware, software, everything. We don't need answers like "just 'cause it's linux" or "'cause it's not windows". No, real answers, real advantages, the real pros of linux. And also the disadvantages of using it (don't say it doesn't have, you know it's not true ).
best for who? for each one, what makes it better for you? why do you prefer it. and it doesn't have to be against windows, it's not the only alternative. a lot of people uses mac, for example, maybe solaris, bsd (i know it's unix, but my thread is about linux).
for example, and sorry if i didn't say it before: i've heard a lot of things like "it's better for programming", "it's better for servers", but why? that's what you must say.
