Adding a 'shared' partition?

What's the easiest way to safely resize /dev/hda3 down to 19GB, leaving 40GB of unused space for a FAT32 shared partition?

Here's my current partition table:

Code:
Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 155061 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1               1       41613    20972826    7  HPFS/NTFS
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda2           41614       43694     1048824   82  Linux swap
Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda3   *       43695      155061    56128968   83  Linux
Partition 3 does not end on cylinder boundary.

The easiest way is to delete the partition and recreate it, but this will kill the filesystem, destroying any files that may be on it.

Alternatively, you can use software like gnuparted or Partition Magic to resize the filesystem and the partition together.
