Question Added a 2nd Sata Drive installed Fedora Core 5, BIOS Doesn't See 2nd Drive.

I just finished installing a second Serial ATA hardrive on my Dell running Windows XP. The primary hardrive is running Windows XP.

I installed Fedora Core 5 on the seccodary Hardrive. The windows device manager sees the Fedora drive as healthy. However, when I go to the BIOS settings all I see is the primary SATA drive and not the secondary Sata (Fedora Drive).

So the problem is I can't change the BIOS to boot from the secondary Serial ATA Drive and launch Fedora. I am a newbie so any helpful suggestions are welcome. Thank You.

Why are you trying to use FC5T1 as a newbie?

Test 1 has traditionally been very buggy, almost by design. If you want to try FC, then FC4 would be a better choice than FC5T1.

BIOS Not Seeing 2nd Hard Drive

Ok, I will try Fedora 4. How do I get the BIOS to recognize the second hard drive so I can elect to boot from that?

Thanks

Matt

You don't need to boot from the second drive. Grub will modify the MBR on the first drive so that you can boot either windows or FC4.

Dell BIOS are notorious for being user unfriendly with respect to customizations. If you don't see an option do to something, then you probably can't do it.
