add aumix to Taskbar (PANEL)

I forgot how to add aumix programm(volume control) to TaskBar(Panel). I used to use the program with Red Hat 9. Just install Fedora and don't remember how to do that.
I use KDE.

Thanks

I keep forgetting how I did this too. I'm using Mandrake 9.1 & KDE 3.1
Finally worked it out (and remembered to write it down!):

Open a konsole, and start kmix by entering
kmix

Kmix opens
Click Settings..Configure kmix
Select "Dock to panel" and "Enable system tray volume control", leave the rest unchecked.
Apply
OK

That's it: You just have a simple volume control on the Panel.

Hope this helps.

or, you could just right click on the taskbar and select........
add>application button>multimedia>aumix(or kmix)

bim bam, it's there.

320mb,

Yes, but if I do "add>application button>multimedia>aumix(or kmix)" I end up with a horribly complex mixer thingy when all I wanted was a simple volume control with just the one slider.
If other people LIKE the complex mixer, that's OK.

Did you ever get this to work??? I have the same problem. No slider, just the mixer pops up. I'm using Slackware 10.

tredegar 11-19-2004 12:40 AM

Yes, the process in the second post of this thread worked fine. Right-clicking the panel ("taskbar") and choosing add application.... did not.
Remove the button that is popping up the whole mixer, then follow the second post.

Nope, still doesn't work. I still get the entire mixer. I do get the following errors though when running kmix from the console.

kmix: ERROR: Alsa mixer cannot be found.
Please check that the soundcard is installed and the
soundcard driver is loaded.
kmix:

I have run alsaconf and set up my soundcard and I can run the alsa mixer no problem. So I have no idea what's up.

Sorry you cannot get it to work. I am not sure where your problem lies. Maybe you'll have just to get used to it until it gets better with an update or reinstall?
Poking around my system (MDK 9.1) with locate kmix would suggest that the settings for the mixer lie somewhere in /home/user/.kde/share/*. You might try looking at some of these files to see if you can figure out what is going on.
