ACPI Error: [DSSP] Namespace lookup failure/ Black Screen boot up/ DE Unstable

Hi:

I've been getting this error for about 3 months but only when I leave one distro and boot to another. Or if I unplug the external HDD and next time I reboot I'll get this black screen. There are 2 SSD's (San Disk 128 GB and an Hitachi 120 GB) and one 500 GB Western Digital installed on this desktop.

Code:
1.762349] ACPI Error: [DSSP] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20110623/psargs-359)
[ 1.762352] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SAT0.SPT0._GTF] (Node ffff880404487af0), AE_NOT_FOUND (20110623/psparse-536)
This Desktop has 3 distributions Voyager 12.04 Elementary OS & Black Opal 64 Bit which is Ubuntu 12.04 based and each distro is installed on each drive.

I have already discussed this matter with the gentlemen that developed this Black Opal distribution and I was advised that perhaps I could be running on old BIOS. And to try acpi=off--

I'm asking for additional wise councel as this was a brand new build and I don't want to wreck the investment I labored over.

I found a update for the mobo- 11/26/2013
http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z87-GD6....html#download

But before I proceed with a BIOS update (really do not want to do that could be risky)
(Did a BIOS update on another machine I had and it make it completly unoperative!)
I'd like to try to edit the kernel line with:
Code:
acpi=off
The thing is; is that I am not sure if these words "acpi=off" that I type should go after the kernel's last digit in the line or before the word "quiet splash".

Here's an example and what I am looking at so you can see what I mean.
It's somewhat deceiving.
Code:
linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-9 root=UUID+904bf39-9234 ro quiet splash
I'm using this tutorial as a guide:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParameters

Should I add "acpi=off" just after the number 9 before the word root (or) add what I have to after the "ro" but before the quiet splash?

Also should this task be done Temporarily or Permanently?

After much reading I found that flashing/updating the (wrong) BIOS could render the mobo inoperative so I haven't found confirmation on what flashing the correct BIOS would do.
In one case I found that flashing sets the BIOS to factory defaults which enables uefi and disables sound (nvidia cards)

Wish this wasn't so complex-

Anyone: any ideas?
