AcidRip install: encoding status does not work

Hi

AcidRip is working well on FC4 on my HP dv4182EA, except the "encoding status" box reports no information during a rip. "Real time left" etc are all zero.

I couldn't find any install instructions (none in the tarball - naughty! - and the link on the AcidRip website was dead), so, guessing, I installed it assuming it was like any other perl module ie:

Code:

perl Makefile.PL
make
make test
make install

Am I missing an install step, or are there are permissions issues on some component stopping the encoding status report, or ...?

------------

EDIT: Install link has been dead for a while. The install instructions can be found archived on the wayback machine http://web.archive.org/web/200411110...rip-howto.html

Seems I guessed right.

Mmm .. looking again at those install instructions I realise I've been trying to satisfy dependencies with rpms, whereas the instructions compile everything from source. I'm not sure whether or not I had ExtUtils-Depends and ExtUtils-PkgConfig installed when I compiled AcidRip. No compile complaints, and perl-Gtk2 was/is definitely installed.

I've now yum installed perl-ExtUtils-Depends and perl-ExtUtils-PkgConfig (which I assume are these), and recompiled AcidRip, though there's no 'make uninstall' available.

No change. Still works, just no progress reports.

I've also yum installed gtk2-dev, which I thought may be needed. Recompiled AcidRip. No change.

Acid_Kewpie, are you out there?
