Accessing Linux PC from Windows PC

I am in the process of setting up a Linux box that will be a server for my Windows based network. What I want is something similiar to Windows Remote Desktop Connetion that will allow me to remotely control the Linux box. I know that for pure Linux I could use SSH, but I would prefer to be able to control the server from my Windows computer as that is what I mainly use. Booting into a different OS, or keeping a monitor and KB for the Linux machine won't really work well. What software would work for me here?

Thanks.

Why don't you get an ssh client for Windows, and ssh into the box from your windows machine?

http://ftp.ssh.com/pub/ssh/

download the one with the .exe extension. That's the one I use, and was recommended from my school's CS department.

puTTy is a great ssh client for windows. You can also pull X applications through to your windows machine if you have an xserver running in windows and have the $DISPLAY set on the windows box (i use eXceed, but there are others).

I've also heard that freeNX is a great solution for running an X environment, though I don't have personal experience with it. Also, you can use VNC, but it's incredibly slow.

To set the $DISPLAY simply (depending on your shell) type either:
% DISPLAY=[name of windows machine]:0
OR
% setenv DISPLAY [IP address of windows machine]:0.0
% export
