Accented characters not showing correctly.

I thought I would add the spanish keyboard layout to Slackware, but unfortunately the characters aren't correct. At first I thought perhaps changing LC_COLLATE and LANG would have fixed it, but it didn't...

Anyway, by pressing the ' key plus the vowels should give the accented characters that one would get using the spanish keyboard layout. Instead I get á, é, Ã*, ó, ú. I know it can't be that I'm not using unicode, for I can type in Cherokee just fine (ranges above 13A0)...

So what could cause this and what should I do? Or at least what should I look into in order to solve this?

Thanks.

Hello,

Try changing the coding system, if it's utf-8 change to iso8859-1 or vice versa.
