about Yahoo messenger


How do you connect Yahoo messenger on Linux ? About proxie,server, .... ?

Do u use proxy server?

If not u can directly run y! messenger
I use dialup and hav no prob using Y!
it automatically detects the connection

no problems here with yahoo on linux.. direct connection should work if your on a regular ISP connection. unless they do require proxy server for connection, which most don't use anymore.

I connect to internet via a modem. I think it know my proxy. But I don't know if i configure the right yahoo server, the right port or not ! What is your's setting ?

i use direct settings.. don't have to supply a proxy or port.. whatever yahoo uses most likely as default.

I think that the default setting is not working. Or I have to wait a very long time to connect ( patient that haven't got yet ).

Its just too bad that Yahoo! Voice Chat isnt compatible with linux.. its really all that I use windows for

For voice and WebCam support for yahoo messenger you can try gyach :
1. Download http://www.politicalcrossfire.com/te...nstall.tar.bz2 , and save it to your home directory (important!).

2. Run these commands in the terminal, in sequential order:

tar -xjf gyach-install.tar.bz2
cd gyach
sudo ./install
