About sym link directory

Fedora 17

I was following manual;
http://wiki.ovirt.org/wiki/Building_...#Prerequisites

building oVirt

Ran following commands as root:-

Installing JBoss AS
Manually (From Zips)

Code:
    $> cd /usr/share
    $> wget http://download.jboss.org/jbossas/7.1/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final.tar.gz
    $> tar zxvf jboss-as-7.1.1.Final.tar.gz
    $> ln -s /usr/share/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final /usr/share/jboss-as
    $> su - -c 'chmod -R 777 /usr/share/jboss-as'
    $> chkconfig jboss-as on
However on running;

# chkconfig jboss-as on
Code:
error reading information on service jboss-as: No such file or directory
# ls -ald jboss-as
Code:
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 31 Nov  9 10:43 jboss-as -> /usr/share/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final
Please advise whether it is a mistake? If YES how to rectify the mistake? TIA

B.R.

Hi,

The following link explains how to configure a service using chkconfig:

https://safesrv.net/have-services-st...fig-on-centos/

I think some steps are missing in the tutorial you mentioned.

Or you might just need to set the JBOSS_HOME environment variable properly.

Hi,

Thanks for you link.

$ ls /etc/init.d/ | grep jboss-as
no output

$ sudo find / -name jboss-as
Code:
find: `/run/user/satimis/gvfs': Permission denied
/usr/share/jboss-as
jboss-as is not on /etc/init.d/

I suppose there are some steps missing in the tutorial.
