about debian iso

I have been using Redhat for a long time now and would like to try out some other distro.

I use my compu for writing programs in C, chatting with frnds, watching movies and playing games.

I have deceided to try out debian and have visited www.linuxiso.org
There I found the following:

Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 1 Generic boot (Non-US) 647MB
Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 1 Generic boot (US) 584MB
Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 2 'vanilla' boot 645MB
Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 3 'compact' boot 645MB
Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 4 'idepci' boot 644MB
Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 5 'bf2.4' boot 642MB
Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 6 643MB
Debian GNU/Linux - Disk 7 339MB

Which of there do I need to download and install to successfully install and run debian?

The stable release is a bit old. You can get debian testing release (SID?) ISO which is 80MB. I am waiting for debian 3.1

Do NOT get a SID ISO. The installer is more or less broken.

I suggest you get the bootbf2.4 CD image. It is a small (sub 40MB) ISO which contains the installer and the base debs and allows you to install a minimal stable system - then you can apt-get dist-upgrade to Sarge or Sid.

getting full debian CDs

Actually i would like to install debian on more than 2 computers and would like have the whole OS on CDs.

Each timeI have to install Redhat, I use the 3 CDs that I have written, I don't have the documentation and other CDs with me. Similarly, I would like to have debian CDs with me.

But I don't know which of the CDs listed are needed for COMPLETE installation of debian.

***Actually I don;t have internet at home, so I need tocarrythe installation CD from workplace and install at home...***

A fully functional debian system (x windows, browsers, kde/gnome, etc) can be had off the first main install cd. The CDs after that include increasingly rarely-used software.
