where exactly am i supposed to type the script /usr/x11r6/lib/xscreensaver/??? - root ? sorry to be a bit newbie about this...

when I try the mplayer trick, I get a flash on my screen, but my desktop remains....

give the command in xterm.Or you can add it in the file .xinitrc if you want it to run everytime you log in to X.

Perhaps MPlayer is having difficulties with the file? Try the exact same command from the command-line rather than in your .xinitrc file and see what errors come up. MPlayer can only play the files for which you have libraries... if you haven't got the correct library to play something, it ain't gonna be played!

herm... This doesn't work for me. I suppose I'm missing something. I have Kde 3.0.3 runing pros in background option is enabled, but I can't run this command : /usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/starwar -root (I don't have this screen saver anyways). The -root command seems to be useless (kde give me an error "file doesn't exist" when I try to start a screen saver with this... and without, I get a normal windows with a screen saver inside... nothing reach the background)

I liked this page so I thought i'll save it.
Unluckily I was using InternetExplorer
The darned thing crashed (plus hanged my sytem for 1 minute)
Finally Word opened up for no apparent reason. And was asking some questions about conversion of formats.
Man M$ sucks.
I am using Mozilla now.
Learnt my leason.

I don't have a problem PLAYING the vids, as I can hear the sound, I just can't see the video in the rootwin.... I can play the file fine normally
