A question I can't help but ask...
 

Why doesn't Linux support games and other software the way windows does. If I could use just Linux and do all the things in Linux I could do in Windows, I would never EVER use Windows again. But I have to.

Linux does support games, I've got Q3A, UT and I've played a bit of the RTCW demo. The problem is game designers don't support linux.

Well they aught to. Linux users from what I've seen make up about 30%-40% of PC users. That's a pretty big margain to ignore.

I've sent many emails to many companies about Linux support. Have I ever had one reply? Nope. Is it gonna stop me pestering them? Nope.

It really bugs me that companies are reluctant to support Linux. With an ever increasing userbase, and with Linux becoming ever easier for the newb, why deny that things are changing? Just because the OS is open-sourced and freely available on the internet, doesn't mean that their software has to be aswell. I think it's a real shame that Loki went down the pan (or are they back again?) - it was a company doing well showing people that Linux is real, it's here, people are using it and that those people need games!

Since Lokis demise i think that most companies are afraid to travel along the same path. I hope that Loki comes back around and business and convert some decent games.

40%?!?! where are you getting your figures? the most recent figure i saw was 6%... if that.

If you take into account big file servers and stuff, Linux and BSDs do take up a hell of a chunk. Note that kernal doesn't say that it's 30-40% desktop users.

isn't PC Users the same as desktop users.. I rarely see a PC running a companies database, intranet, internet servers.. etc.. :D
