8-bit hell!!

I installed vncserver on my RedHat 7.1 machine and I haven't been able to get it to give me more than 8-bits of color. Every time I try to start the the server with a depth of 16 bits I log in and the colors, as seen from the client, are all screwed up, specially the icons on my desktop and the top of windows. I run my normal Gnome session with 16 bits so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks.
