unzip -v
UnZip 6.00 of 20 April 2009, by Debian. Original by Info-ZIP.
...
Compiled with gcc 4.8.0 for Unix (Linux ELF) on May 13 2013.
....
However - while digging in the man I didn't found any info for possibility to decrypt AES256...
I digged more on http://linux.die.net/man/1/unzip
The chapter Decryption is interesting (not that it explains the issue that I have).
Then I've updated the pkzip package to the latest (sudo apt-get install pkzip), also the pkunzip and the PK...
I've tried to find more info for dependencies, still I have the problem and unzip doesn't ask for a password, instead asks for this PK package..
Maybe there is an issue in the 64 bit Linux Mint Petra build...
I didn't found any info for possibility to decrypt AES256...
what???
you lost me there.
anyway, what file are you trying to unzip?
with password encryption?
could you upload it so we can try, too?
any particular reason why you don't want to use 7z?
no specific reasons not to use 7z - on the contrary - I use it also under windows, I like it...
The file is zip with pass, AES 256 description. I will not upload it - nothing special, it is also sensitive info for me. Zipped with 7z under Windows.
In the previous post I meant that in the MAN I haven't found any info for whether unzip can deal with passworded AES 256 zipped file.
I was just curios whether this problem can be worked-out. Nothing more
And just curiuos - how to understand dependencies for apps in linux?
Cause some other time I may not find a nice / better workaround for a problem .
And just curiuos - how to understand dependencies for apps in linux?
this is distro-dependent.
if you're using ubuntu based linux mint, it uses apt package management - there's ways to do that with command line, but i usually use (or install, if it's not there) synaptic packet manager.
it's got a gui, and doesn't cover all the abilities of apt, but still gives you more control over things than the dreadful mint/ubuntu software center.
for me, it's the easiest way to check info on both installed and non-installed packages.
