64 bit linux/cygwin for opteron based machines.

yo all,

Any body know of a mandrake's lnx4win or cygwin like linux emulator which runs on a 64 bit opteron machine.
PS. I have already installed mdk amd 64 bit version. It runs beautifully on the dual opteron. All I need now is something to run linux as an emulator from inside windows.

Cygwin is not an emulator, it is a fully functional GNU system that runs on Windows. As opposed to GNU/Linux, Cygwin is GNU/win32.

You can grab the Cygwin sources using the installer and compile them locally for your 64bit system if you wish. Or you could buy VMWare and run a full Linux distribution under Windows.

Thanks. I shall try to compile sources. But, what package do I use to compile? It cant be gcc as I dont have it. Should I usr VC++?
