5.1 channel subwoofer speakers - only the woofer works

I can now only get sound out of the subwoofer, though for the first half hour it was fine. I have tried changing the speaker configuration from 5.1 to 4 to 2 and on nonebut the woofer now produces sound. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

BTW, I´m running Mandrake 10.1 on an ASUS S5200N notebook.
