I have an 3c900 ethernet card that is working fine under windows but in linux there is some problem that after inactivity of network traffic for about 10 minutes error messages on "tty 1" are given. It is something like "pci bus error ..etc etc..". As mentioned previously, there is not problem under windows with this same card on the same machine.

1) I found out that there is 3c59x.o driver loaded in the kernel for this network card. Is it possible that this driver might be wrong for this card?? has anyone 3c900 in his pc??

I removed and inserted this card in the system with help of "kudzu", the redhat tool. But after configuring the card I can not even ping my own ip !!

Where could I have made a mistake??

I know that in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 configuration can be changed but how can I manually add the "hardware device" to the system. I mean the job that "kudzu" is doing??

Well, the problem with the ping was because of some firewall misconfiguration. Now, it is working fine but the first mentioned problem remains. Network is not reachable afte a few minutes of inactivity.

I guess it is some bug in the kernel 2.4.18-3 and /or redhat 7.3. Has anybody experienced something like this??
