1. How to get rid of the boot screen of redhat, it looks not good. I have multi-os on my computer, so far, when my comuter boots, the graphic screen will show up and let me choose what os I want to start. Can I change this graphic screen to a text mode, like:
lilo boot:
then let me type the os name.

2. After I update the kernnel, before, I have windows and linux two names, and I choose one of them to boot. Now, it has linux, linux.bak, 2.4.xxx, 2.4.xxx can't remember what exactly it is, I am sure is the kernnel version number. How can I change it back to only two?

3. When I start a Mozilla, and I click the icon again, want to open another Mozilla window, it tells me that the profile is been using, and create another one. Is it kind of stupid? How to solve this?

1. Don't know, sorry (I don't think you can do it - please correct me if I'm wrong) Although, if it is possible, that sounds like a lot of hard work - remembering exactly what each option is called.

2. You will need to edit lilo.conf with a text editor - comment out the unneeded entries using the # symbol

3. In your open Mozilla windows click, file, new, navigator window (or just press 'ctrl and n' together)

In response to part 3. of your question...

One of the neat features about Mozilla, which sets it apart from other browsers (IMHO) is the use of TABs. (You may or may not be aware of this) By using TABs, I find I don't need to open multiple Mozilla windows.

To create a new TAB within the current Mozilla window, select File->New->TAB
I believe Ctrl-T has the same effect.

If you haven't used TABs , you will be pleasantly surprised!

I believe I need to do something to let the os aware the changes since after I restart the computer, nothing change, and the lilo.conf does change.

Just get the solution myself. For this one, you need to comment out the line about message in the lilo.conf

After you edit lilo.conf you should run lilo -v to update your Master Boot Record.
