Arrow 2 red hat 7.1 questions

1. How do I change the resolution, color depth, and refresh rate for KDE?

2. How do I increase the resolution of the text mode display?

1. If you chose multiple resolutions/color depths when you first configured X, you can cycle through them on-the-fly by pressing CTRL + ALT + the plus or minus key on the numeric keypad (not the +/- on the main keyboard). If you only specified one resolution during setup, rerun Xconfigurator and specify the ones you want to use.

2. put the line "vga=ask" (without quotes) in your /etc/lilo.conf file and rerun lilo to write the change. After that, you'll be able to select from the choices lilo presents at boot. Man lilo for more info.

Thanks. But the vga=ask didn't work. Here is my lilo.conf:

boot=/dev/hdb6
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=0
message=/boot/message
default=linux
vga=ask
linear
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2-2
label=linux
read-only
root=/dev/hdb6

One thing to note is that I am dual booting this system. hda is windows 2000 server and hdb is red hat 7.1. Maybe that is why it's not working? Do I need to extract my boot sector and put it in the c: of the windows drive if I want to get the vga=ask to work?

Did you remember to run the command /sbin/lilo as root after making the changes?
