2.6.19.1 Verbose?

I've installed the 2.6.19.1 kernel on two systems. I can't get either to go into verbose mode when they're booting. The second system is failing to get to a prompt or gui. Its a plain black screen every time it boots. No text; nothing after grub. Any help?

Any error code ?
Do you erase the stable kernel ?
If not edit the grub, point it to default/stable kernel using live cd or CD 1.

Regards

I am having the same problem. I am using slackware and the same kernel. I remember having this problem before and adjusting a certain setting in the kernel config to fix it, but I can't remember what I did. Maybe something with the console video settings...

Do you not have framebuffer support loaded? I don't know much about grub, but in lilo I took out vga=774 or whatever it was and replaced that with vga=normal to get text on boot.
