2.4.15 quickly comes out!


2.4.16-pre1
Looks like we'll have a 2.4.16 kernel soon...There's hope Aussie!

I am still downloading 7.2 Redhat !

Not sure if I want to use it though, this 7.1 is sweet.

I wouldn't even think of downloading an ISO or distribution, even in multiple files. 56K ain't cuttin' the cheese these days. lol
I haven't tried Red Hat. If I get tired of Slackware, i'll migrate your way and see how nice it is.

I have a high speed connection, but unless you have priority login with redhat it is only getting around 20k/sec.

Oh well as long as it's free I'm not in a hurry.

Disc 1 is complete and disc 2 has started. LOL

From now on I guess we can refer to it as dead-duck...Don't know what Linus would think about that though.
So I take it 2.4.16 or what will be, is pretty good otherwise?

One thing I've noticed so far is not as many USB device drop outs, and the 8139 behaves itself better as well- no more shutdown complaints from eth0.

Its here...

final:

- Fix 8139too oops (Philipp Matthias Hahn)

pre1:
- Correctly sync inodes in iput() (Alexander Viro)
- Make pagecache readahead size tunable via /proc (was in -ac tree)
- Fix PPC kernel compilation problems (Paul Mackerras)

Thanks again...and nope, no 2.5 fer me Mr. Phillips. Perhaps if I knew it was EXACTLY the same as 2.4.16....Pondering....Ouch!

Its no fun using 2.5.x yet...there is nothing broken in it thats not in 2.4.15
