Hello!

I started to store my old Video8/HI8 Tapes on my custom linux NAS system for further editing. They are stored as DV. But now my HD reached its capacity limits and I am forced to convert them into the MPEG format earlier than I planned.

So I started a quick test with the programm mencoder (current release) and a cutted DV (cutted under XP with Ulead Visual Studio, the same program I used for the record) sample to check the result. No problems and a relatively good result.

After that I wanted to start the conversion of the complete DV file but mencoder will abort with the message "segmentation fault".

I suggest a problem with the audio format although the cutted sample has the sam format like the original video, both DV. I compared the sample and the original video with several AVI info tools but I can't detect any differences, except the size.

Maybe my problem will be solved with a litte option change but I don't know wich one.

Any suggestions?

PS: I know, the first target for my problem should be doom9.org but they forced me to a 5 day membership until I can start my first post and I am in a hurry.
