'OUT OF SCAN RANGE' Ubuntu

Hi,
I finally got my Ubuntu CD in the mail. I put it in my comouter. Turned on my computer and go to the Ubuntu screen. I pushed enter on the first option to install it

It when through a thing and said it was ok. Then I get a box.

The box says "INFORMATION", "OUT OF SCAN RANGE"

How do I fix this? I read on a forum and it said to press Ctrl - backspace. So i did and it has been loading a orange scren for about 5 hours now so i turned off my computer.

Please help me

It is probably your monitor. I wouldn't know that much because I haven't used Ubuntu that much but I would try and boot into some different video mode before you start it.
