XFree86 error when trying to start game

I keep getting this error when I try to start a game I have installed. The screen just goes blank, and the game doesn't start.

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 42 (X_SetInputFocus)
Serial number of failed request: 70
Current serial number in output stream: 71

Anybody know what this is and how to fix it??
