xboard chess

hi

I've installed xboard with gnuchess and crafty on debian Lenny, but if I try to start then I'm getting this message:

xboard: Failed to start first chess program gnuchessx on localhost: gnuchessx: No such file or directory

Might need a $PATH? For instance I have Phalanx and Sjeng in /usr/local/bin, so I use 'exec xboard -fcp /usr/local/bin/sjeng' or 'exec xboard -fcp "/usr/local/bin/phalanx -x+ -p+ -s+ -b+ -e 90 -l+ -l+ -P $HOME/.phalanx -S $HOME/.phalanx -L $HOME/.phalanx -g $HOME/.phalanx/$LOGNAME.log"'.
