wow + wine + fedora = not that easy...

Hei

Wine and wow is easy, I made it work fine with Ubuntu 8.10, no problem.

I tought it would be easy with Fedora 10 too, but no.
I have used yum to install wine, and have a pre-installed copy of wow on my hardrive.

But when I try to start wow, Ill get this eror:

[Tom@firestar wow]$ wine wow.exe -opengl
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x60a34b66

The same problem if I try to start without opengl too.

I have tryed to search google for anythuing, but Im unable to find anything to solve that problem. It works fine in Windows XP.

Anyone have any idea?

What video drivers are you using in Fedora?

Please post the output of:

Code:
glxinfo | grep render
* What version of Wine are you using?

* Are the files on a Windows file system such as NTFS?

If so, try transferring them to a Linux file system, I had problems running WoW off NTFS with OpenSUSE when I used to use Windows, so it might be a problem.

* If all fails, try using the WoW repair utility which is in the WoW folder.

I use the driver I have downloadet from Nvidia.com

Version: 180.22
Operating System: Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T)

Code:
[root@firestar Tom]# glxinfo | grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+/PCI/SSE2
    GL_NV_conditional_render, GL_NV_depth_clamp, GL_NV_explicit_multisample,
    GL_NV_vertex_program3, GL_NVX_conditional_render, GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap,
Im using Wine 1.1.12

I moved wow to my homefolder (it was on NTFS)
Run repair agen after this.

But still the same problem.

Well that's all fine then, it might be your Wine version!
Check this out: http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=3511

You are using the version mentioned which can be problematic, update to 1.1.14 and see if it helps.

Yep, they themselves recommend not to use Wine 1.1.2.

And Standley, you sure have one of the coolest and fastest card around. I cannot help myself envying you for this.

I was myself thinking of buying a NVIDIA 9800 GT, but it's still a little bit costly here in India. I think I'll wait till the prices plunge a bit more.
