Excellent news - Witcher 2 is coming to Linux.
Apparently, the Linux version is not fully playable yet but you can buy and start downloading it now.

I really like Steam's approach to cross-platform games. I bought Witcher 2 (for Windows) over the Christmas period when it was heavily discounted (I paid something around £3-4) and I have just noticed that it has now automatically become available on my Linux steam client - just downloading it now (without the need to buy it separately for each platform).

By the way, it looks like GOG is going to release Linux versions of some games

Wow, thanks for that. That's fantastic and very interesting news. And only a month after I e-mailed GOG asking for Linux support, and they replied saying "no" :p

I think you weren't the only one asking about that. There have been hundreds of people requesting that for some time. Looking forward to that.

A full playable version of Witcher 2 for Linux is now available on Steam - with an 80% discount.

Unfortunately, the Linux Witcher 2 port turned out to be the disappointment of the year.

Now we know why it was so heavily discounted.

On a completely unrelated note, for people who are already registered with Origin (EA) there's a completely free of charge download of Battlefield 3. Yes, I know it's Windows and they are taking the DRM-nonsense to a new level (the game launches through a web browser), just thought someone might be interested.
