windows games under linux with an emulator ?

Hi,

I've been using linux since 7 years now as a hobby, recently I became sysadmin and learned a lot of stuff...

The only thing that is keeping me from migrating my home desktop pc from win xp to linux is games...(my notebook has linux on it already )

I like to play a game once in a while and upgrade my video card often to be able to play em hi-res...

Can somebody tell me if there is an emulation system that has very good performace and possibly no problems getting a game to boot under linux ? I don't want to search the web for 3 hours to get a game to boot you see ;-)

I've heard about whine etc but i'm not sure if "games" will work in it.
And what about performace with an emulator ?

thx a lot

You can use a special version of WINE called cedega.

You could also give wine itself (which is free) a try:
http://www.winehq.org/

The site also hosts are rather large database of applications
which have been tested under wine:

Why not dual boot? WINE, Cedega, etc. are good, but, depending on the game, you can have problems, especially with most newly released games.

it won't take 3 hours
10 minutes will give you a rough idea
if you are not willing to spend even that much time, why are we spending our time typing replies

You can go to http://frankscorner.org/ for complete info on using Wine.

And yes, Frank answers questions, too. (e-mail)

Cheers
