SMAC Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire, again. But the most wanted? Has to be ALL of the Myst series by Ubisoft, and most of all " Uru and Path of the Shell ", also by Ubisoft. Not to mention Age of Wonders, too!
Most games now days, just aren't as much fun to me.
The Myst series, Ie ... Myst, Riven, Exiles III, Uru, Uru - Path of the Shell, Myst IV, Myst V are very good games. Requires thinking and a really neat mindset to play. It's not like other games. In Myst, Attention to detail and serious putting it all together, Then on to the next puzzle is part of what the games about. It's not really for the smash & slash crowd. More for the Hunt and look again crowd.
I own the series up to Path of the Shell. Going to buy the last two from www.mystworlds.com for the other two when more money is clear. Just got done getting memory and a new graphics card.
And to add another game to the list to be ported to linux, Lands of Lore II & III. About the same as myst, but with a little smash and slash thrown in. But again, it is the careful hunter types who will win the game.
When I played Myst III for PC I felt like I needed more background on what the story was, since I pretty much did not know anything about the game, and I really like a good plotted game (reason why I bought the game in the first place). If they ever get around to port the series to Linux (my only OS now), I'd be willing to buy the whole series.
I'd have to agree that the Lands of Lore games are good too. Though I only actually played the third installment of the series, I was immediately hooked. For some time now, I have thought that a good adventure game is desperately needed, and though there are several out there, last good adventure/RPG game I've played was Anachronox (I really LOVE that game)....
In any case, I hope game studios stat to realize there's actually a market in Linux games and that big bucks games will eventually make it into Linux, and not just multiplayer FPS games (of which Serious Sam 2 and Quake IV have already been confirmed for Linux), but other game types and geners would also be much appreciated... Like what happened with Neverwinter Nights.
I'd like to see some more stategy titles make it Linux. My fav's from Window's World are the Age of Empires series, Railroad Tycoon, Civilization, The Sims.
I know we have FreeCiv but more strategy games would be good.
Have you tried OpenTTD? It's an open source port of Transport Tycoon Deluxe, a game inspired by Railroad Tycoon. You can check it out here: www.openttd.org
