Want stellar performances in Starcraft.
I have successfully installed and played Starcraft but I'm a little unsatisfied with it's speed. On my Linux box, the cursor feels much more sluggish than it does on a much slower Windows system. I was wondering if you guys had the same feeling and what you did to improve this.
I messed with the dga and mouse grab options, but that didn't do any good. I have an i686 compiled version of cedega 4 and winehq 2004/07/16. Both perform the same. I compiled a 2.6.7 kernel as well. I run Starcraft in a dedicated 640x480x16bpp display (too bad Starcraft doesn't run in a 8bpp display). |
i got the same issue, im running debian with a 2.6.7 as well, its just plain sluggish, been looking for a while on how to fix it

Yay, update, Got starcraft running like a dream on my debian 3 with a 2.6.7 kernel, tried running it through cedega 4.3.2, but it was very sluggish, however, i tried under wine, and it ran like a dream when i turned of color cycling and character portraits. It might just be me, but i get the feeling that the game runs better under wine than it does through cedega\winex.
Other issuses i had, was the sound came out kinda bad at first through wine when i used the alsa drivers, i then forced dsound hardware emulation: [dsound] "HardwareAcceleration" = "Emulation" now it runs great, ive been trying for a while to get this to work, and i hope this will help others :D note, havent tried networking yet, but my guess is it should work |
ahhh udp networking works

Now that it came 2 wine/cedega, can someone please help me why my wine doesn't launch anything at all??it says :
